[Notes on the city]

Geography:

The city is situated on a temperate region, with a fairly pleasant climate for all three races. It is surrounded by tall hills on one side and the river on the other.

The city is divided into several districts, some are race-restricted, but the vast majority is open to everyone. Residential districts tend to be prevalently inhabited by one race, despite the incentives to mix. The industrial districts are located to the south, where also the majority of the brobdignangians live. The financial district is located in the city center, surrounded by prevalently gulliverian residential districts. Finally, the university, research center, and government buildings are located to the north, where one can also find most of the lilliputian dominated residential districts.

Demographics:

The city's population is around 3 millions, of which 2.2 millions are lilliputians, 700 thousands gulliverians, and 95 thousands brobdignangians. Compared to the overall global population, the city's brobdignangians are overrepresented, while the lilliputians are very underrepresented. It has been theorized that the city does not feel quite safe enough yet for lilliputians to transfer themselves permanently, preferring instead to work from home or from safer cities far away from the bigger races; as for the brobdignangians, the current theory is that the city's offer of steady, well paid employment and a progressive attitude towards social issues attract many disgruntled giants to it.

The city overall is very young, both in absolute age and average age of its inhabitants, because of the important university, cultural exchange programs, and famous night life.

Economy:

The city's workforce is mostly employed in the service sector, with a significant chunk employed directly by the city's government. There are a lot of tech companies that operate in the city and constitute the second biggest slice of the city's economy. There are also some factories and farms, that, while a minor part of the city's GDP, are an important strategic asset for the independent city-state.

Security:

The city's security is guaranteed by the United Nations, but it does have a small military **** of its own, one of the first truly combined-size armies in the world.

The city has also, of course, its own police ****. Its riot control section is particularly well equipped and trained, as controlling the young and **** giant citizens of the city without risking taking down a skyscraper or two with them is a hard task.

Technologies:

The city freely provides several safety devices to each of its citizens. The most important ones are

• Collision detecting shoes, able to warn gulliverians and brobdignagians that they are about to step on someone smaller than them.
• Safety vests for lilliputians, worn under normal clothes, that inflate in case of violent collision, softening the blow.
• Comm devices for brobdignangians, capable of making lilliputian speak comprehensible for them. They also act as translators, but they are famously inaccurate.
• Access to the lilliputian and gulliverian internet, even for brobdignagian citizens.
